Health benefits of homemade cheese balls with red and green chilies
While cheese balls may be seen as an indulgence, they do offer some nutritional benefits. Particularly when made with high-quality ingredients like fresh cheese and chilies. Let’s explore some of the ways this dish can be a tasty and beneficial addition to your diet.
Nutritional benefits of cheese
Cheese is an excellent source of calcium, which is essential for maintaining strong bones and teeth. It’s also a good source of protein, which supports muscle growth and repair. Depending on the type of cheese you use, you can also get a variety of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, vitamin B12, and phosphorus.
In moderation, cheese can be part of a balanced diet. It provides essential nutrients while also delivering satisfying flavor and texture. Plus, it can be a great way to add protein to your meals or snacks without relying on meat.
Boosting your metabolism with chilies
Chilies, particularly red and green varieties, are not just about adding heat to a dish. They also come with numerous health benefits. Capsaicin, the compound responsible for the spiciness of chilies, has been shown to boost metabolism and promote fat burning. Eating spicy foods can increase the body’s metabolic rate, helping you burn more calories even at rest. Just be responsible with how much you add if you don’t want to cry-eat.
Chilies are also rich in vitamins, particularly vitamin C. This supports the immune system and helps your body absorb iron from plant-based foods. They’re also known for their antioxidant properties, which help protect your cells from damage and reduce inflammation.
Supporting digestive health
The combination of cheese and chilies can be beneficial for digestion as well. Cheese, with its healthy fats and protein, can help keep you feeling full and satisfied for longer periods, which can reduce overeating. It also promotes better digestion.
Meanwhile, chilies have been linked to improved digestive function. Capsaicin can help stimulate digestive enzymes and increase blood flow to the stomach, aiding in the breakdown of food and absorption of nutrients.

minutesThese flavorful cheese balls combine the creamy richness of bellows and mozzarella cheese with the spicy kick of red and green chilies. Perfectly seasoned and fried to a golden crisp, they offer a delicious balance of smooth, cheesy goodness and vibrant heat. Ideal as an appetizer or snack, these cheese balls are sure to be a crowd-pleaser, packing both comfort and spice into every bite.
Ingredients
300 grams bellows cheese*
350 grams of mozzarella cheese*
2 whole eggs
5-6 tablespoons all-purpose white flour
1 sachet baking powder
1/2 teaspoons ground white pepper
1 red chili pepper
1 green chili pepper
Directions
- In a large bowl, grate the 2 types of cheese. Cut and cube the chilies. Remove the veins and the seeds if you don’t want the cheese balls to be too hot. Add the chilies to the bowl. Break in the whole eggs and add the sachet of baking powder, ground white pepper, and all-purpose flour.
- Mix firmly until all the elements are well combined. If you feel that the mixture is too moist and sticky, gradually add in a little more all-purpose flour. The mixture should handle easily and unstick from your hands once the balls are formed. Form the cheese balls and place them on a floured surface or on a tray lined with parchment paper.
- Heat up the oil. For the best result, the cheese balls should be mostly covered in oil. Use a deep fryer or a deep pan. Once the oil is heated, add 6–8 balls and fry them until golden brown. If your oil is heated enough, this should take about 30-45 seconds per batch. Remove them on some paper towels to remove the excess oil. Enjoy!!!
Notes
- Make sure all the balls are formed before you start frying. They fry fast!
